Cllr Amanda Hampsey

Argyll and Bute Conservatives say they are delighted with Chancellor Jeremy Hunt delivering £20 million worth of funding for the area as part of his Autumn Statement.

It was confirmed that Argyll and Bute Council would be one of four local authorities in Scotland to receive £20 million from the UK Government as part of Levelling Up Partnerships.

Those partnerships will see the council work closely with the UK Government and relevant officials to ensure that future levelling up bids will have the best chance of succeeding and securing further UK Government funding for Argyll and Bute’s communities.

Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, Councillor Amanda Hampsey says she is “very much looking forward to” seeing how the partnerships develop and added that she is determined to secure investment as a result of them to create new opportunities for people living and working in Argyll and Bute.

She says the funding is “further evidence” of how the UK Government are committed to supporting all parts of the country and says that the SNP-Green government have neglected the needs of the local area for far too long.

PPC, Councillor Amanda Hampsey said: “I am absolutely delighted that Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has stepped up and delivered £20 million worth of funding for Argyll and Bute Council.

“The money – which will help us create a partnership with the UK Government – is testament to the hard work put in by the council and officials to ensure that we have the best chance of succeeding when it comes to future bids for levelling up funding.

“I am very much looking forward to seeing how the partnerships develop and I am determined to secure fresh investment for our communities across Argyll and Bute.

“That will help create new opportunities for people living and working here and hopefully attract others to come and make our wonderful area their home.

“Given the SNP-Green government continues to ignore our needs, it is fantastic to see the UK Government investing millions directly into Argyll and Bute.”
