Lochgilphead pipes its way to success

Lochgilphead Joint Campus excelled at this year’s Scottish Schools Pipe Band Championships, with the school’s A band being crowned the Quartets Champions, and the B band getting fourth place in the same section.

Kintyre Schools Pipe Band also celebrated success, coming fourth in the Novice A section.

Congratulating the bands on their achievements, Argyll and Bute Provost Maurice Corry, said: “Lochgilphead Joint Campus was up against some very, very tough competitors – some of the best in the country - but their musical skill and sheer determination led them to success.

“I am incredibly proud of their achievements, as well as that of the other Argyll and Bute bands that took part in the championships, and I wish them every success going forward.

“From pipe bands and brass bands, to vocalists and individual performers, we are exceptionally lucky to have such talented musicians here in Argyll and Bute.”

Further seven schools accredited for nurture achievements

A further seven schools in Argyll and Bute have been accredited for their achievements in developing nurturing cultures in their school communities, bringing the total number of accredited schools in the area to 27.
