I have had another productive day vising and hearing from my constituents in Tayinloan, Clachan, Muasdale and across West Kintyre while putting out my latest leaflet.
It's great to meet so many people who had supported the Conservative and Unionist party for the first time during the last council elections. I'm even happier to hear that all of them plan to continue supporting the one true Unionist party.
Aside from national politics I have also been hearing many justifiably angry complains about the condition of our trunk roads and local council roads. By now everyone well knows my position on the state of our infrastructure and of my relentless lobbying for long term improvements over piecemeal patchwork. So please be rest assured that this will continue in-till a solution is found.
I was delighted to visit Clachan Primary School and hear of the fantastic service being provided there. Coming from a village that had It's own primary school until it's closure in 1998, I can say that I know all too well the importance small schools have to their local communities and the need to keep them open in order to keep our small towns and villages viable. I have also been receiving calls about the numerous potholes on Islay and Jura's roads. I have and will once again raise these complains with the infrastructure department at Argyll and Bute council directly.
On the subject of toilet closures lot's of people from across the Kintyre and Islands ward have said that keeping public toilets open in really important, for all sorts of reasons. No one wants to be in the position of closing local amenities if they can help it, so I'm confident that we will see a proposal that keeps toilets open.
