Welcome for council’s winter road preparations

Donald Cameron MSP with Cllr Alastair Redman

Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has welcomed Argyll and Bute Council’s announcement of its preparations for dealing with winter conditions on the road network.

“Given our unique geography, local people and businesses are very reliant on a road system which as we all know can be vulnerable to disruption especially in the winter.

“It is reassuring that the council is making preparations to do what it can to minimise problems caused by wintry weather.

“Our thanks go in advance to the dedicated teams who will be working in the worst possible conditions to keep our communities connected.

“Let us hope that the Scottish Government starts showing the same dedication to its transport responsibilities which have been neglected too long, such as our ferry service and a permanent solution for the A83.”

Cllr Alastair Redman, Policy Lead for Economic Growth, added:

“As we seek to revive our economy as we come out of the pandemic a fit-for-purpose transport infrastructure will be essential.

“I’m very pleased that the council is playing its part to help that process along.”
