I was delighted that in the recent Administration budget the public toilets that were under threat of closure have been saved. Keeping our local toilets open one of my top priories in for my ward and I'm glad to have played my part in our administration to keep these facilities open.
With our roads and infrastructure in general crumbling it is essential that our council administration address this. The decision to spend £15 million on roads over the next two years will help . As I have said both before and after I was elected our roads link every corner of Argyll and Bute and have to be properly maintained. Particularly in my local ward where we have produced for decades upon decades huge sums of tax revenue from our world famous distilleries yet we received little in return when it comes to public spending.
We in Argyll and Bute face a huge demographic time bomb when it comes to health and social care. The increasing elderly population in Argyll will lead to great challenges in funding health and social care which is why I am delighted that we on the council administration agreed to increased social care spending by £1.5 million
This shows that a hard working councillor can achieve a lot for his local ward when given the chance.
