Jamie McGrigor, Highlands & Islands Conservative MSP, has welcomed yesterday’s announcement that the A83 between Campbeltown and Kennacraig will become a trunk road in the next year.
Commenting yesterday, Jamie said:
“Kintyre Councillor Donald Kelly and I have consistently campaigned for the Campbeltown to Kennacraig section of the A83 to become a trunk road and therefore I welcome this news. It is something I have called on successive Transport Ministers to deliver.
“I have always argued that the trunking of this section of the A83 is vital in terms of helping to attract further investment to Campbeltown and Kintyre, and today’s announcement is a real boost for the local area.
“I congratulate Donald Kelly and others who have lobbied hard on this issue, and I look forward to this promise being actioned within a year. I hope that Ministers will also now respond positively to other key issues affecting the rest of the A83, namely addressing pinch points at Inveraray and between Lochgilphead and Tarbert, and ensuring safer crossing points at Ardrishaig and Tarbert.”
