Jamie McGrigor MSP signs the "Beating Bowel Cancer" Service Pledge at the Scottish Parliament
At last night’s Scottish Parliamentary Reception, Jamie heard from bowel cancer patients and from the charity Beating Bowel Cancer about the importance of good experience for all patients.
Jamie said:
“I’m very happy to sign this pledge and support bowel cancer patients in my region in any way I can. I shall be contacting local NHS boards to ensure they are providing the "gold standard" when it comes to treating bowel cancer patients.
“I commend all those involved in Beating Bowel Cancer for the excellent work they are doing in raising awareness of this disease and supporting sufferers”.
Mark Flannagan, Chief Executive of Beating Bowel Cancer, said:
“We strongly believe that patient experience should be an integral part of the NHS in Scotland, and it is vital that better care is secured for all bowel cancer patients.
“We know of cases where patients aren’t getting the level of care they need. We are therefore pleased to launch our Service Pledge as a measure of how hospitals should be providing a good experience to the bowel cancer patients they treat”.
