Dates: Fri 14 - Sun 16 March 2014
Edinburgh is expected to receive an economic boost of more than £1 million with the hosting of the 2014 Scottish Conservatives’ annual conference.
The event will be held in the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC). EICC estimates that the spring gathering will generate £1.47 million for Scotland’s capital.
The conference will take place on 14-16 March, and will feature senior party figures from around the UK.
Scottish Conservative deputy leader Jackson Carlaw MSP said:
“It is significant the Scottish Conservatives will be holding their annual conference in the nation’s capital in the same year as the referendum, which will be a defining moment in our history.
“As the home of the Scottish Parliament, there is no better place to debate the future of Scotland’s place within the UK.
“This will be one of the party’s most important conferences for several years, and we are looking forward to welcoming senior Conservative figures and members from around the UK.
“This year the conference will be extended by an extra day, which means delegates can look forward to a packed programme of events over three days".
When the dates and venue were announced in 2013, EICC Chief Executive, Hans H Rissmann OBE, said:
“2014 will live on in the record books as a historic year in Scotland’s political history, and we are delighted to play our part as the chosen venue for one of the major party conferences next spring”.
