SANDY MacPHERSON

 

A former Chairperson of the association, Sandy is a Glaswegian by birth, now residing in Kirn, having spent most of his formative years in Ayr.   Educated at Ayr Academy and The University of Glasgow, his career was in the travel, transport and tourism sector, in which he held several senior management posts.   He was for many years a Director of The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) and is a former President of The Scottish Passenger Agents Association.

He served for a number of years as a Justice of the Peace in the Sheriffdom of North Strathclyde, and is currently a member of the Board of Governors of the Charles and Barbara Tyre (Educational) Trust.

He is a keen Rotarian and a past president of the Rotary clubs of Glasgow Shawlands and Dunoon.   In 1998/9 he served as District Governor of Rotary in Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

One of his principal interests lies in church music, and he has for many years been an organist and choirmaster.   He is currently in post at The High Kirk in Dunoon, and is Director of Jubilate Cowal, a choir whose members come from all parts of the Cowal peninsula.
