I have been out and about on Islay over the past few days speaking to my constituents and listening to their concerns.
I viewed the repair work being done by our roads department on the Port Charlotte bridge, and by Scottish Water and their local contractors who have been fixing numerous faults across Islay, including those I raised at the recent MAKI Area Committee held on Islay.
I was also delighted to attend this week's T In the Church event in Portnahaven and heard from local residents about the need for grass cutting to be done in many areas of the Rinns that have been left to become overgrown. This includes the ground around Scottish Water's underground tanks at Shore St, Portnahaven. There is also a real problem with weeds not being sprayed and being left to grow out of control.
I will keep raising every issue brought to myself by my constituents with the appropriate department and I'll keep working hard to make sure our local area is not sidelined as it has been in the past.
