I have had a terrific response while out campaigning over the past few days in Ardrishaig, Lochgilphead, Inveraray and Oban. Myself and my family attended a packed Lunch Club in Oban which has three times its normal membership, many of the new intake are from the ranks of the Lib Dem and Labour party who canvassed with us in the Better Together campaign. I also spoke in front of a full house constituency AGM in Inveraray, with a similar size of new intake of members from othe...r parties. The Union, the economy, the collapsing support of the Lib Dems’ 3% party and some from Labour’s own ranks calling for a Conservative vote here in Argyll were mentioned frequently by all who attended. On the doorstep across Argyll our activists – many of whom are originally from other parties – and myself personally are getting a fantastic response in areas which we used to have some difficulty a mere 5 years ago. With the lack of any activists to be seen from the Lib Dems or Labour, and the toxic legacy of the SNP association in Argyll and Bute, more people than ever before have pledged their votes to the Conservative and Unionist Party. Hundreds of Unionists from other parties have stated how unimpressed they are by the other associations’ lack of ability to tackle the separatist threat. With our record number of members in Argyll and Bute, fantastic coverage in local and national press, our non-stop grassroots doorstep campaigning, our effective online campaigning, our association feels more confident than ever that we can take this seat this year.
