£4.5m marine enterprise investment in Argyll welcomed

Donald Cameron MSP with Cllr Andrew Vennard

Two local elected representatives have welcomed an announcement that £4.5m is to be invested by Highlands and Islands Enterprise in developing a marine enterprise cluster in Argyll.

Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron said:

“This very significant investment is a vote of confidence in the potential of the marine cluster at Dunstaffnage and I very much welcome it.

“The Scottish Association for Marine Science has an international reputation for applied science so it makes eminent sense to capitalise on that through developing commercial spin-offs which build on that strength.

Local Councillor Andrew Vennard, (Oban North and Lorn Ward), added: “I am delighted to see this investment taking place here.

“Our area badly needs good quality  and sustainable jobs and so this announcement could hardly be more timely as we seek to recover from the impact of the pandemic.”
