New figures from the Office for National Statistics show that our long-term economic plan is securing a better future for Argyll and Bute and the rest Britain with 1.85 million more people in work than in 2010 and wages rising significantly faster than inflation.
These figures are good news and show the hard work and sacrifice of the British people is paying off. This is a key moment for our economy, with the highest employment rate and lowest inflation rate on record. That m...eans more people with the stability and security of a job, able to provide for themselves and their families.
These jobs are not insecure or poorly paid – in fact three-quarters of the new jobs that have been created since the election are full-time and wages are rising significantly faster than inflation with total pay going up by 2.1 per cent and inflation over the same period at 0.9 per cent.
Families in Argyll and Bute are seeing the results of our long-term economic plan to create jobs, but we know that they are still feeling the impact of Labour’s Great Recession and that there is more to do. This is why we need to stick with our long-term economic plan that is helping deliver economic security for hard-working taxpayers across our country.
