Jamie McGrigor, Highlands & Islands MSP, has once again praised the work of Dalmally based charity Mary’s Meals, describing his constituent and the charity’s head Magnus Macfarlane-Barrow as “truly inspirational”. Jamie was speaking after attending a Mary’s Meals event for MSPs and staff held in the Scottish Parliament last night where a screening was held of “Child 31”, a powerful documentary about the charity’s work feeding more than three quarters of a million of the world’s poorest children. The Parliamentary event was addressed by Humza Yousaf MSP, Minister for External Affairs and International Development.
Speaking today, Jamie, who himself lives near to the Dalmally base of the charity in Argyll and who recently helped co-ordinate an appeal in Parliament for back-packs for the charity, said:
“It was a great pleasure to meet once again with my constituent Magnus Macfarlane-Barrow, the truly inspirational founder of Mary’s Meals, and to watch Child 31 which is an incredibly moving documentary of the story behind Mary’s Meals and the work it does with some of the poorest children on the planet. I would urge constituents across the Highlands & Islands to watch this film which has been produced by an award-winning American film company and which is truly compelling.
“Mary’s Meals provides a nutritious daily meal to more than 750,000 children globally, notably in Malawi, and we should be very proud that a charity based in the Highlands & Islands is making such a big difference to the lives of so many children throughout the developing world".
