I was delighted to attend the latest MAKI Committee meeting in Tarbert recently where I was happy to hear that at long last Scottish Water will be investing significantly to fix Tarbert's continued problems with flooding and sewage over flow. In some cases this issues has be around for over 8 years and it's continuation is simply unacceptable.
This problem is not just a detriment to the local residents and their health but also Tarbert's large tourist industry. Getting the chance to hear Tarbert locals voice their anger and dissatisfaction with Scottish Water directly was very welcome indeed. It's high time Scottish Water heeded the justifiable exasperation over this problem.
I then met with fellow Conservative Councillors in Kilmory at the Environment development and infrastructure committee where we spoke at length about the need for infrastructure that is at the very least fit for propose. Particularly in areas of large amounts of heavy industry.
The fact remains that the current piecemeal approach is clearly not working and without serious investment this matter will only get worse.
After that meeting I traveled to Carradale and had the opportunity to speak to my constituents about numerous local issues including road and pavement repairs, street lighting, damaged drains and the terrible local mobile phone signal. Afterwards I was pleased to attend the latest East Kintyre Community Council meeting. As the weeks and months go on I hope to (where possible) visit every corner on my council ward.
I have made my intentions to represent all of my constituency well known and I will be doing just that.
