Local Conservatives have slammed Labour's budget for hitting rural Scotland

Local Conservatives have slammed Labour's budget for hitting rural Scotland.

Argyll & Bute Parliamentary candidate, Gary Mulvaney criticised the fuel
increase saying "Labour's budget will hurt rural areas like ours with a 2p
increase in fuel duty and proposed inflation busting duty increases for the
next four years. This combined with the increase in VAT in December will
take fuel prices back to the highest in the UK, affecting every driver,
every shopper through higher transport costs and literally drive away the
tourists"

Cllr Gary Mulvaney, also expressed real concern for the Scotch whisky
industry in Argyll. He said "It was bad enough when the SNP started to
tinker with minimum per unit alcohol prices, it is another blow with Labour
slapping 14 pence on a bottle of whisky, especially when there was a massive
14% hike in duty in 2008. It will be a blow for the industry and I wouldn't
be surprised if we see job losses as a result"

Gary who is an accountant by profession also stated that there is real risk
of the UK going completely bust stating "To balance the books, even on the
basis of the fantasy figures for growth will require the Government to sell
£220 billion of debt in the next years and we already have seen a reluctance
of the markets to buy it. Any more unsold debt issues will hit our credit
rating, increase the interest premium and risk a run on the pound. Labour
may indeed abolish boom and bust by bankrupting us completely"
