Gurkha Justice
Gary Mulvaney, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Argyll & Bute has
called on the Government to rethink its approach towards retired Gurkha
servicemen. He also urges as many people to back the fight for justice by
signing the online petition.
Following a legal ruling, the Government revised the rules, and a little
more than 100 Gurkha soldiers of the 36,000 that served before 1997 will
entitled to stay in the UK.
He said "We all know that this Government has an appalling record on looking
after our troops, but this decision to turn our back on some of the finest
servicemen in the British Army is appalling . Over 45,000 Gurkha's have died
serving our country and to deny them the same settlement rights as other
commonwealth soldiers is an insult to them and their fallen comrades. I urge
everyone to let the Government know what a cynical breach of the military
covenant this is".
