Donald Kelly (Councillor for South Kintyre)

Councillor Donald Kelly lives within the new South Kintyre ward and is currently the representative for Ward 1, South Kintyre. He is the Conservative leader in Argyll and Bute Council. He lives in Drumlemble with his family where his children attend the local primary school. He is the Chair of the Kintyre Working Initiative and has worked tirelessly to re-establish the Campbeltown to Ballycastle ferry service.

He is a self-employed pest controller; a business that takes him throughout Argyll. He is a keen fisherman and country sports enthusiast and also enjoys relaxing with his family in his spare time.

He is a well known member of the community which he serves and throughout the area as a whole.

During this council session (2003-present) Donald has worked hard to secure funding for various projects within the entire South Kintyre area including the upgrade of Southend primary school. He was the only local councillor on the policy development group that achieved the funding package necessary for Aqulibrium, the new sports facility and library in Campbeltown. He is currently working hard to ensure funding is made available to improve the facia of Campbeltown town centre.

Donald has been selected as the Scottish Conservative Council candidate to fight the new South Kintyre ward in the Local Government election of May 2007. He hopes to succeed and gain election as a member for the new ward in order for him to continue to fight on behalf of all the people in the South Kintyre area.
